Nuneaton Borough 4 - 2 Mickleover

16 days since the Boro had played, it was great to be back on the sideline at Liberty Way to photograph this Boxing Day football match against Mickleover. Both teams wore their away kits, in support of the Shelter ‘No Home Kit’ campaign.

With both sides in the Southern League Premier Division Central play-off spots, it promised to be a closely fought game. Luke Benbow’s free-kick, from the edge of the area, separated the sides at half-time.

In the second half, Charlie Dowd weaved his way through the Mickleover midfield to score Nuneaton Borough’s second goal. It didn't take long for Luke Benbow to be on the scoresheet again, sliding in to grab his second, and the Boro’s third.

Not long after the Boro’s third goal, Mickleover found themselves down to 10 men after Warren was sent off following a clash with Rowe-Turner, who received a yellow card. Despite the deficit, Mickleover grabbed a goal back via Elliot Reeves, who chipped Boro keeper, Tony Breeden. 2 minutes later, the Boro’s 3 goal cushion was restored with a goal from Kane Richards (81), who shot from outside the box.

A second goal from Elliot Reeves for Mickleover, before the final whistle, resulted in the game finishing Nuneaton Borough 4 - 2 Mickleover.
