Nuneaton Griff 0-2 Nuneaton Town

An incredible attendance of 1183 watched the first competitive match between these sides in Nuneaton - the highest Boxing Day attendance for step 6 football. No wonder so many turned out to watch this match, despite the fog.

It was a momentous occasion, the first time Nuneaton Town had played in their home town since reforming. The Griff keeper, Divin Emmanuel, made some brave stops to keep the Griff in the game. It took 15 minutes for the Town to penetrate the home side’s defence. A clever James Harrison flick from James Spruce’s cross slipped past Emmanuel into the host’s net.

James Harrison scored his and the Town’s second of the game in the 64th minute to seal the victory for Nuneaton Town.
