A badge of honour

Setting up a football team from scratch is no easy task. The steering group has been meeting every week to prepare the way for Nuneaton Town FC. With no ground or players, we are literally starting from nothing, not even a badge.

A football club’s badge is such an integral part of its identity. Therefore, one of the first tasks was to decide on the club badge. Nuneaton Town/Borough supporters were invited to design it. Fans voted for a reimagined version of the Nuneaton Borough badge ensuring the new club had a link to its past.

I went over to Sporting Touch to film the first badge being sewn onto the new Joma home shirt. The whole process took around 25 minutes and it was quite mesmerising watching the needles thread the design together.

After an uncertain few months, the embroidered badge on the blue and white striped shirt is the first physical sign of Nuneaton Town FC.
